BookData Online is an online search and discovery tool providing access to over 43.5m title records from over 86,500 publishers. It is an essential resource for librarians to search and identify books and review a book’s bibliographic details.
Agreement start: 1 August 2018

This Agreement is valid until 31 July 2021. Institutions may join the agreement at any time. They will then be committed to the agreement unless they choose to opt out by giving notice on or before 1 April annually.
No refunds will be issued for any unused portion of the service due to early termination.

Universities, colleges and other learning, educational and research bodies in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Other organisations aligned with Jisc’s charitable objectives of supporting education, research bodies and the public sector may ask to participate in the Agreement. Chest will liaise with the Supplier about any such requests.

1 Nielsen BookData Online web pages are optimised for the highest standard of accessibility. All pages have been validated by an external agency and were found to be WAI-AAA compliant.
2 Each institution's BookData Online subscription can support multiple user profiles (usage limits are on concurrent use) and each user's profile can be personalised according to their needs. Search forms can be set and stored. The default results display format, sort order and print options can all be set. Searches can be saved for later use and new title alert emails can be sent out against those searches to the address saved in personal preferences. Lists of results can be printed, saved, exported and emailed in all the formats listed previously. The format of exported spreadsheets is also fully customisable by each user.
New content is added daily.

The Chest Order, together with the Licence Terms and Conditions, and any exceptions listed below, create a legally binding contract between your institution, organisation or company and the Licensor. Therefore please read the terms and conditions carefully and only submit a Chest Order if its terms and conditions are acceptable to your institution, organisation or company and you have the authority to make the financial commitment shown.
This Site licence is subject to the terms and conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources.
On receipt of a completed Order, Institutions will be invoiced for the Agreement year in which the Licence is signed.

Chest is an Enterprise of Jisc. All Purchase orders must be made out to Jisc, 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol, BS1 6NB to cover all charges plus VAT.
All terms contained in a PO are expressly rejected and do not form part of the Licence or vary the Licence terms in any way.
Payments are due within thirty days of invoice date; recipients of late payments are entitled to interest in accordance with UK statutory provisions.

The Fee for early termination in accordance with clause 10.4 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil. No refunds will be issued for any unused portion of the service due to early termination.
The Fee for retention rights upon termination in accordance with clause 10.5 of the Terms and Conditions for the Standard Chest Licence for Online Resources is nil.
The Licensee may retain an electronic copy of the Licensed Material in its archives for reference only. Copies of parts of the Licensed Material already made and/or used by the Licensee or Authorised may be retained and used in accordance with the terms of this Licence Agreement.
Personal licences are not available under this Agreement.
Licensor and Licensee agree the following:
Each will comply with GDPR which means the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) and any legislation or regulation which amends or replaces it. Performance of this Licence Agreement requires each party to process contact details for the other party’s personnel. Each party is the controller of the Personal Data (as defined by GDPR) relating to its own personnel and both are processors of Personal Data relating to the other party’s personnel. Pricing is banded based on numbers of users and size of institution.
HE Large - includes members in JISC Bands 1,2, 3 and 4;
HE Medium - includes members in JISC Bands 5 and 6;
HE Small - includes members in JISC Bands 7, 8, 9 and 10;
FE and Others - includes members of the Further Education Community in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
