Research features

Advanced Boolean Search: Students can now use extended Boolean operators and complex search strings to pinpoint relevant articles across thousands of global publications — ideal for tracking ongoing issues or comparing coverage across regions.

Discovery Integration: PressReader integrates directly with leading library discovery services, including Ex Libris Primo / Primo VE and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). This enables users to discover and access PressReader content seamlessly through the library’s primary search interface—bringing PressReader into the academic search experience while maintaining the visual richness of the original publications.

Citation Manager Support: PressReader now integrates with Zotero, enabling users to extract bibliographic metadata directly from the platform. This makes it faster and easier to cite news sources properly in assignments or research papers — a critical academic need. Coming soon - Discovery API

Coming soon - Discovery API: PressReader’s Discovery API enables users to search tens of thousands of current and archived issues of newspapers and magazines to get the data they need for their topic of research or study. With archives dating back years, probe PressReader’s catalog of content and observe the evolution of discourse of your search topics within a defined timeframe.

PressReader: Subscribers get access to more than 7,000 of the world’s top newspapers and magazines from more than 120 countries, often before they’re available on shelves.

PressReader pay publishers fairly for all of that content, so you know your subscription helps support the production of quality journalism, both internationally and locally.

There are no limits on downloads and back issues, allowing users to read titles offline whenever, wherever.

With the press of a button, users can translate foreign language content in up to 18 languages, allowing users to gain international perspectives on topics of interest.  Plus, they can share access across 5 of their devices.

PressReader’s Global Publications Package includes access to a one-year rolling archive.

An extended rolling archive published from 2004 is available for an additional 15% of the standard licence cost.
